Online Business! Giving Up Too Soon?

Online Business! Giving Up To Early?
So you have finally found the online business that seems right for you. You like the products that you will market and you love the compensation plan. The only problem is that around 99% of entrepreneurs who start an online business, quit way too early!

Finding the right online business or program that you like and can feel comfortable with is just half the battle. A big part of the process involves a number of important elements.

Online Business – A Major Commitment!

As an entrepreneur who is serious about starting an online business, you have to make a commitment not only to the business, but to yourself. Hopefully you do not have an expectation that you are going to get rich overnight, because that will not happen. You are not going to make a big bundle of cash overnight, take it from me, I have been in this business for over twenty years. It take time to build your business.

Being a success online requires you to have staying power. Most successful businesses online take over a year to show a decent profit. In my most recent business it was three months before I made my first sale of $8.00, then a day later another one for $8.00 and the third day one for $167.00. So don’t believe the hype that you are going to make ten thousand dollars in the next twenty-four hours. It is going to take time to set up your business, advertise and get on the search engines. It just takes time to grow and get in profit.

Do Not Become An Online Business Junkie!

Do not make the mistake that many entrepreneurs make and results in them failing miserably. It is what I call being an online business junkie. What is that you ask? It is simple and I have seen it over and over. They join one business program and when they do not see big dollars coming in quickly like the ads said, they see another business which sounds easier and it appears they can make more money. So they join that one. The cycle repeats it self over and over again.

The majority of entrepreneurs who take this course ultimately fail. They fail to make money in any of the businesses they join because they do not concentrate on developing any of them. Many are part timers on limited budgets and have limited time to devote to their business. When they take the approach of joining multiple programs they do not have the capability to devote the necessary time. Each time they join a new one, the prior ones get left behind to just die a natural death… the money and time spent on each of them becomes a loss column in the business ledger.

Commit To The People Who You Refer To The Business!

Besides making a commitment to yourself as mentioned earlier, you also need to make a commitment to assist the people you refer to the business if that is the nature of the business. I have been in so many businesses over the last twenty years where my sponsor sent me a welcome email and I never heard from him or her again. They were too busy trying to refer more people than to help me be a success.

If part of your business allows you to refer people and you will make commissions on their membership and/or sales, then you have to realize that they are important to your business success. They apparently had confidence in you so they joined the business. I feel that your only course of action is to support them. Do not look at them as only a number and a dollar sign. If they become successful then it increases your success.

You need to communicate with them on a regular basis, answer any questions that they might have and offer them help in areas that they may be weak in. Operate as a team and set an example.

There are thousands of entrepreneurs working from home in the online business area worldwide. Why not be one of them. Just be careful in choosing the business, take time developing it, set some goals and do not quit early because you might be frustrated.

Wish you success in all your endeavors.

  1. As an online business owner of 2 sites, it is tough to to keep them moving forward. You have to motivate yourself as well as be disciplined when it comes to creating new content.

For some people building online businesses, it can be very easy to quit when they’re not seeing the results they want.

Being an online Entrepreneur certainly requires a lot of commitment and also many sacrifices in order to reach your goals but it’s worth the effort when you see success happening. 🙂

I was once an “opportunity hopper” until I realized it’s all about sticking with one online business and putting all your effort into it.

    • Hey Neil, thanks for visiting my site and thanks for your comments. I agree with all of your comments. You have to keep motivated and focused or frustration may move in. I love your term, “opportunity hopper”. It really describes the mind set of those that go from program to program without any results. I wish you the best of success in your endeavors. Thanks again

  2. Hey! Great website. I love when you talk about people that hop from one business to the next, as soon as they feel like the first business there in isn’t making enough money (or any money). When they probably was getting close to obtaining their first sale.

That mentality I think was me when I first got into online marketing. But since I’ve stuck around with the mom industry, I finally found success! You just have to stick around until the end. Great advice..

    • Hey Hassan, thanks for your comments. I did the same thing when I started out online. There always seemed to be something a little better and easier. It took me awhile but I also found what I was supposed to do and have been there for a number of years. Wish you the best of success.

  3. Hi,
I agree with taking time to develop an online business. Gosh, I had someone who quit too soon. Like one month into it. I did my best to help her but she got frustrated and that was that. I stayed in contact with her throughout that month. I got back to her messages pretty quick. It just wasn’t enough for her.

I have been in that spot where I was a junkie, but they were more like scams one after another. I think that was why I quit 10+ years ago. Just saw the “fast money” advertising and there goes my money fast into someone else’s pocket.

I have learned from my mistakes and I know now that there is no such thing as making a lot of money in 24 hours unless you are a scammer online.

    • Hi Sofia,

Thanks for your comments and for visiting our site. I know that feeling so well where you try your hardest to help others but they get frustrated. It is so true about there being no way that you can honestly make a lot of money in 24 hours. I received an email this morning advertising that I could make 2 to 300.00 dollars a day starting in 48 hours. I just clicked it to the trash. I don’t even read them anymore.

I wish you the very best of success.

  4. This page specifically gives me so so so much motivation to continue onward with my own side, you speaking on loss columns in the business ledger. that is very true and honestly I have thought on it. it’s the fact that i have yet seen or heard from someone speak on it them selfs to embed it into my head. thank you for that fact. especially for helping me realize it. because even i have almost given up just days ago until i was convinced by my President of my MC club to help commit to advertisement by websites etc. keep it coming friend!

    • Hi Roy,

Thanks for visiting my site and for your comments, I really appreciate them. Glad I could help your motivation, makes me feel good too. I know over the years there were times where I felt I was not going to try anymore, but I kept on going. Now it has been over twenty years that I have been working online.

I wish you the very best of success in your endeavors. Thanks again

  5. Hello Joe
What a great post! This post has just come at a time where its just a dry period for me. You brought up some really great points and ones I really need to think about. I am lucky the person that referred me keeps in close contact with me, but I can imagine without that support it’s hard to keep going. Your post gave me a lot of inspiration and has help me reflect on my own bad habits. Thankyou for this post. Keep up the amazing work. In your 20 years of doing an online business what is your number 1 advice for those newbies who trying to stay in the game? Kind regards Grace

    • Hi Grace,

Thanks for your great comments and for visiting my site. I am glad I could be of help to you. The advice I always give is to try and keep focused on what your goal is. For instance, if the business you are involved in has specific training courses, concentrate on going through the training in a step by step manner. Try not to move ahead because you are in a hurry. In addition do not fall into the mindset where you see something that looks better. I have seen that happen too many times over the years. It takes time to build a business. It doesn’t happen overnight like a lot of the hype says.

I wish you the very best of success in your endeavors. Stick to it and I am sure success will come. Have a great day.
