Introduction to Global Domains International (GDI)

I was introduced to GDI over 12 years ago when I was looking for a business opportunity to get involved in. I wanted one that was easy enough for a rookie to get involved in as well as someone more experienced.Global Domains International

You probably found this review after doing a Google search for GDI to find out whether it was a scam or not. I hope that you will find enough information in this review to make your decision. Much of it is based on my own involvement with GDI. I have been involved in GDI on two occasions over the last 12 years, but I am not involved in now.

What Exactly is Global Domains International?

The Global Domains International was started in November 1999. The GDI opportunity combines a complete domain package and the ability to earn commissions and bonuses for referring other members. It is a network marketing company. The basic package is $10 a month and includes a domain name with the .WS extension, hosting with up to 100MB of space, 10 unique email addresses and an easy-to-use online WebSite builder. Every new affiliate receives a seven-day FREE trial!

As an affiliate, you earn a $1.00 commission per month for each referral you make. The matrix structure of GDI is 5 levels deep. Here is what your matrix organization would look like if it were 5 members wide and 5 levels deep:

GDI Compensation Plan
If you add the figures up on the right it comes to 3,905 members, which means as a basic member you would be making $3,905 a month. If you were a Premium member which is $40.00 per month, you would receive higher commissions.

In addition to your regular commissions you would be able to earn several bonuses. You can earn an unlimited number of $100 bonuses each week by simply referring five new confirmed affiliates in a 7 day contest period. Plus you can earn what is called an Infinity Bonus which allows you to get paid on unlimited levels below the basic 5 levels.

Does Joining Global Domains International Make Sense?

If you are looking for an online business that is rather easy to understand and inexpensive then it might make sense to join GDI. The company has been around for a number of years so it is pretty stable and is not going to disappear tomorrow. On the other hand it really doesn’t pay that much.

So Joe, Why Did You Leave It Twice You Might Ask?

I was wondering when you were going to ask. Like I indicated above the first time I was looking for something easy to understand and not to expensive. I promoted it for over a year the first time and had about 70 steady members in my downline organization. I promoted it through an organization that indicated that they would give me 6 referrals if I promoted it following their system which was cooperative advertising.

Notice I said steady members. While I had a lot more referrals, it was a continuous turn around of members. Many would not stay on beyond the 7 day free period and others would stay a couple of months when their downline wasn’t being filled as promised. So after awhile I gave up since it was not going anywhere.

The second time I joined, about two years ago, I wanted to give it a try again. I liked the program and it seemed to have appeal due to the monthly price. I hooked up with another group for promotion and as soon as I filled my first level of five, I took on the job as team leader. The team leader was responsible for support of his team and for coordinating the team’s cooperative advertising. I set up an entire training site for the team. My downline started to build again but the same thing started to happen, people would join up and drop out when they saw no results. Plus I got a lot of people that did nothing but wait for the team cooperative adverting to give them members. I took the position that if you didn’t do the required advertising, then you did not get a share of the results. So I got tired of that and made up my mind to leave again.

The Good And Bad Of Global Domains International

The Good…

– The obvious one is that it is low cost.
– It has been around since 1999 so it is a staple company
– They pay out commissions like clockwork every month
– They have a good amount of promotional material available
– They have twelve different affiliate websites you can choose to use
– Have several bonus programs to increase your income potential

The Bad…

– The compensation program is not that great
– Takes a lot of work to get a little return
– Not too much training for the new entrepreneur
– It is tough for the beginner to see a profit quickly
– Affiliate support is minimal

Is Global Domains International For Everyone?

I think GDI is advantageous to all levels of marketers and entrepreneurs, from the new entrepreneur to the experienced successful business owner who wants to work hard and be patient. GDI is available worldwide.

So in a word, EVERYONE. All levels of expertise, any age, any country. It is for everyone who wants to learn, develop, maintain and be up-to-update on a the skills required to achieve success online.

What Kind Of Support Is Available At Global Domains International?

Support is minimal. They have a number of videos which cover different aspects of the site. And there is the normal Frequently Asked Question section and the help process where you can submit a ticket for assistance.

What Will You Be Doing at Global Domains International?

You will be promoting the sale of domains and memberships to GDI. You will be doing this through advertising both free and paid as your budget permits. You will at some point need to support your team as it builds and help them build their organization. Remember in a network marketing organization, the people you sign up will be signing up people and those people will be part of your organization, who even though you didn’t sign them up personally, will still generate commissions for you. The bottom line – you will have to work at it if you want to be a success.

How Much Does Global Domains International Cost?

There are two price levels. The basic distributor is $10 per month and the upgrade to Premium member is $40 per month.

My Personal Recommendation And Verdict

I do not feel that GDI is a clear winner. You read about the two times that I was involved with it. I feel that if you are a “newbie”, as they say, then I would say give this a pass because I don’t see you getting the proper training that you need to be a success. Without sound knowledge and guidance it is very easy to fail.

Is it a scam… NO. It has been operating for over 15 years with only minor complaints. It is a decent opportunity. GDI is legit.

My Verdict – three star rating Three Stars. It is not a bad business, but there are better.

You need to have basic knowledge to succeed and guidance from those that know what they are doing. My primary business deals with those aspects of becoming a success. I suggest that you read the review of my #1 Recommended Online Business Wealthy Affiliate.
