Can Retirees Work Online From Home?

work online at home
As a retiree, I decided to work online from home. I had tried some part time jobs with local companies but they were not challenging and did not pay that much. Then I started looking at opportunities to work online from home.

I had retired at a young age since I was in law enforcement and because I was that young I really needed something to keep my brain active after retirement. So I chose to begin my journey to work online at home.

When I started, I really had a big learning curve to conquer because I had no experience in building websites, doing email marketing or managing sales activity, such as customer service online. And back when I started there were not too many training programs to help me out. So I had to teach myself. Today, there are some excellent opportunities for those who have goals to work online from home, and I will mention one that I highly recommend a little later.

There Are A Lot Of Retirees/Seniors Who Work Online At Home

You would be amazed at the number of retired and senior citizens that are involved in online work to make additional income. I have been associated with an individual for a number of years who has had an ongoing online business for many years and this week he just celebrated his 90th birthday. In one of the primary businesses that I am involved with I have had contact in the last two weeks with one gentleman who is 68 and another who is 70. I myself just turned a young 75. It is my understanding from doing research, that there are millions of senior citizens now working online in the area of Internet marketing.

When you think about it, WHY NOT! When you retire and/or reach senior citizenship you do not immediately lose all that lifelong talent you had. So if you have it flaunt it and make some money doing it!

An even bigger incentive is the need to supplement income since Social Security does not do much for many people. So the need to work online from home can have a basis of both financial needs, not wanting to become inactive or both.

What Does The Internet Have to Offer Seniors and Retirees?

The Internet has a number of advantages that can appeal to retirees and seniors…

– An online business can be much more profitable than an offline job
– The career path you take is only restricted by your creativity
– You work at home and set your own hours
– Want to go visit the grand kids, go, you do not have to ask your boss
– Use the skills you have or develop new ones
– There is no commute except the walk down the hallway to your desk
– No boss or union to deal with
– In most cases, no employees to manage
– You can get started for peanuts and run on a low operating budget
– You can connect with people all over the world and never get on a plane

I could probably come up with a number of other advantages but it is getting near my nap time. I have already worked my hour and a half today. Only kidding! I don’t take my nap until later in the day.

A couple of weeks ago I drove back and forth to Florida from New Jersey and stayed in Florida for my son’s wedding and to see the grand kids. I did not have to put in a leave request for vacation time or get anyone to cover for me. My business went with me. All I needed was my laptop and it was business as usual whether we were in Florida, Georgia or Virginia. That is why when I retired I went to work on the Internet. My office goes where I go… one year I moved my office to a condo overlooking a golf course for a couple of weeks, worked in a townhouse at the edge of a ski slope another year, and every month I spend a couple days at the casinos.

Why Not Work Online At Home!

You can do the same if you make up your mind to do it. And there is no need to re-invent the wheel. I mentioned earlier that there was one opportunity that I could recommend very highly for someone wanting to get started online. I am associated with a business and training opportunity called Wealthy Affiliates. It is a ten year old online business that has continued to grow every year. The great thing about it is that you can join for free, no credit card needed, and as a free member you receive two free websites with hosting, training and support from a community ready and willing to help each other succeed. I invite you to take a look at the review I did of the Wealthy Affiliate opportunity to help you make up your mind as to whether you want to work online at home.
